Detailed Policy Provisions

1. Hardscape Warranty (5-Year Protection)

Includes: Interlocking pavers, flagstone, retaining walls, and stonework.

We engineer our hardscapes to withstand the Canadian climate. RockLeaf Landscaping warrants the installation workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of final payment.

  • Settlement & Structural Integrity: We cover significant settlement or heaving (exceeding 3/8 inch relative to adjacent units) and structural failures of retaining walls (leaning or bulging) directly attributable to installation error.
  • Material Warranty: The structural integrity of manufactured products (e.g., Techo-Bloc, Unilock pavers) is backed by the manufacturer’s lifetime warranty. We will happily assist you in facilitating claims with manufacturers should a product defect occur.
  • Exclusions: Normal wear and tear, efflorescence (natural white powdery deposits), minor hairline cracks in concrete (less than 1/4 inch), and damage from de-icing salts or harsh chemicals.

2. Softscape Warranty (Living Elements)

Includes: Trees, Shrubs, and Sod.

  • Trees & Shrubs (2 Year): We provide a one-time replacement for trees and shrubs that fail within one year of installation, provided they have been cared for according to our Plant Care Guide.
    • Note: If the specific plant is unavailable, we reserve the right to substitute it with a plant of similar size and value.
  • Sod (30 Days): We warrant that our sod is fresh and healthy upon installation. Coverage extends for 30 days to ensure successful rooting.
  • Conditions: Living elements require partnership. This warranty is void if plants die due to neglect (lack of water), extreme weather events (floods, ice storms), pests, or animal damage.

3. Woodwork & General Construction

Includes: Decks, Fences, Pergolas, and Carpentry.

RockLeaf Landscaping warrants carpentry and general workmanship for two (2) years. This covers defects in assembly and installation.

  • Note: Natural wood is a dynamic material. Checking (minor splitting), twisting, grey weathering, or knot holes are natural characteristics of wood and are not considered installation defects.

What Is Not Covered (General Exclusions)

To ensure clarity and avoid surprises, the following are excluded from this Limited Warranty:

  • Neglect & Maintenance: Damage resulting from a failure to water, prune, or maintain the landscape as advised.
  • Environmental Factors: Damage caused by “Acts of God,” including extreme drought, flooding, tornadoes, or other severe weather events.
  • Site Conditions: Issues arising from pre-existing site conditions not visible during the estimate (e.g., unstable subsoil, hidden debris) or damage from tree roots not removed during the project.
  • Third-Party Damage: Alterations, repairs, or damage caused by other contractors, service vehicles, or vandalism.

Your Role: A Partnership for Longevity

To keep this warranty valid, we ask that you:

  1. Maintain the Space: Follow the watering and care instructions provided by our team.
  2. Report Issues Early: Notify us immediately if you spot a potential issue. Small problems are easier to fix than big ones.
  3. Winterize: Ensure irrigation systems are professionally blown out and shut down before freezing temperatures arrive.

How to Make a Claim

If you notice an issue that you believe is covered under warranty, simply follow this streamlined process:

  1. Email Us: Send a written notification to info@rockleaflandscaping.ca.
  2. Include Details: Please provide:
    • Your Name and Address.
    • A description of the issue.
    • Photos of the defect (this helps us assess the urgency and required tools).
  3. Assessment: We will acknowledge your request within 2–3 business days and schedule a site visit to determine the cause and remedy.
